Meeting places

I’m finding it hard to meet new people. Can someone suggest somewhere to go to meet down to earth, unpretentious people with genune life interests and ambitions? Kelvins Bar at Northcote is pretty easygoing - although i have yet to meet someone there without baggage!

Everyone has bagggage Harry, including you. It’s what is in it that makes them interesting or not. What’s in yours ?

    ‘Tis truly the only way.
Well, that and Wholefoods Restaurant at Monash University Clayton.

Seriously though, I guess it depends on the age range and interests of people you’d like to meet… I’d advise you to join something social that you enjoy (e.g. a sport, a short course, a hobby group, a political organisation, a book club, an internet community, etc) and then try to meet people from there. If it doesn’t work straight away, just try something else :)

… Or, failing all that you could always meet up with people on Nook who seem to share your interests?

    Best of luck!

Chaos, you are indeed a wise and clever lass, however, i would like to amend your good advice to Harry, by saying, if you look for something you will never find it. Let ‘ít’ find you.

In other words, pursue your interests, and enjoy the company of those who share those interests. Just let nature take it’s course- of course.

If they don’t have baggage, then you asset match ‘em to see what they have or do not have. Enjoy!

If you like bars, Sister Bella in the city has a very mixed and friendly crowd.

Maybe bars aren’t the best place to meet people though? Do something else you like. Also, it’s much easier to meet people when you’re not alone. (If you’re a guy.) Take a friend.. especially a female friend whose very presence vouches for you!
